Objectives:Cialis, a widely used drug for treating erectile dysfunction (ED), has been found to be more effective than Viagra in achieving and maintaining an erection when given in combination with other drugs. We investigated the efficacy of cialis, an ED drug, on achieving and maintaining erections during the second half of the 24-hour period. Patients were randomly assigned to one of two treatment groups, which was given either cialis (10 mg) or Viagra (2 mg) as needed.
Methods:Six hundred and one consecutive patients were randomly assigned to one of the two treatment groups, and they were assessed during the first week of treatment. The patients were evaluated for the efficacy of the two treatment groups. The patients were evaluated for the incidence of adverse events in the two treatment groups. The adverse events were defined as any occurrence of a clinically significant adverse event that included severe or persistent headache, nausea, back pain, dizziness, lightheadedness, visual disturbance, vision impairment, allergic reaction, and priapism. The frequency of side effects was assessed using the modified Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities (MeMDRAC) tool, and the frequency of adverse events was recorded.
Results:The patients were comparable between the two treatment groups, with the incidence of adverse events reported being significantly higher in the cialis group than in the Viagra group. The incidence of adverse events in the treatment group was significantly higher than the incidence in the placebo group (20.8% vs. 21.3%). The frequency of adverse events reported in the patients receiving either cialis or Viagra was not significantly different from that reported in the placebo group. The incidence of priapism and any occurrence of a clinically significant adverse event were significantly higher in the cialis group than in the placebo group. All the adverse events were severe and potentially fatal in nature. The incidence of priapism was significantly higher in the cialis group than in the placebo group. The frequency of priapism was significantly higher in the cialis group than in the placebo group.
Conclusion:Cialis was significantly more effective than Viagra in achieving and maintaining erections. Although these findings are promising, the safety of cialis is limited by the possibility of priapism and other adverse events.
